Sprout: the pencil with seeds that you can plant

In a culture of consumerism, where you want to hoard all kinds of utensils and then change them for more modern ones, the amounts of waste are high. By consuming food, personal hygiene, work support or pleasure products, we can generate up to 1.2 kg of garbage per day. And without realizing it!

In response to this environmental situation, Sprout presents a pencil made with seeds that can become a fruit, vegetable or flower. Once the pencil is very small, it can be planted and cared for to grow.

The objective of this project is to convert the culture of «use and throw away» into one that can recycle and reuse most of its consumption. And what better way than to turn waste into something beautiful, delicious, and fun?

How does it work?

Once the pencil is unusable, you can plant it in a pot indoors. After a lot of effort, care and dedication, beautiful plants will emerge from a utensil that helped you write. It is recommended that you place the plant outside once it has started to grow where it can get plenty of sun.

Each pencil contains a minimum of five pesticide-free seeds; which are activated when the capsule, which is located at the tip of the pencil, comes into contact with water. This is how the germination process begins. Within four to five weeks, your pencil will have produced fresh herbs ready to cook.

Handcrafted in Minnesota, USA, Sprout has a rigorous standard for sustainable, professional quality. For this reason, it is a non-toxic product that does not harm the plants, water or people.
