Until his death in 1975, Franz Mayer's house in the Lomas de Chapultepec became a kind of temple where the collector gathered his objects and the books he was acquiring after the purchase of each piece. Before acquiring a new piece, Mayer investigated the origin and technique of the object, which caused his library to specialize more and more in art-object and design.
