Ingredients

  • 250 grams of wheat flour
  • 8 grams of yeast (1 level teaspoon)
  • A teaspoon of salt
  • a teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • 1/2 cup of water

Preparation

Step 1. Activate

In a container, pour a little water (from the 1/2 cup that we have for this preparation) and add the sugar and yeast to activate it. Stir and let this mixture sit for about 10 minutes.

Step 2. Mix

Now, I take a bowl and in it, pour the wheat flour and make a hole in the center and then add the salt, the yeast mixture (from the previous step), the remaining water that we had for this preparation and the tablespoon of oil. Stir all the ingredients well. The trick is that if you see the dough is very wet, add a little more flour. The dough should be smooth and not stick to your hands. Knead for 3 minutes and cover the bowl with a cloth, leaving it reserved for 1 hour to grow.

Step 3. Stretch

On a flat surface, sprinkle a little flour and then put the dough there. Cut it into several pieces so that you can handle it easier and make a ball with it. Later, stretch it with a rolling pin until it reaches a thickness of about 2 millimeters. To make it the ideal size, you can use a pot lid and cut the traditional circular shape with it.

Step 4. Heat

Take a frying pan and put it on high heat. When it has taken a good temperature, put the breads there, allowing them to heat for 1 minute on each side. You will see that it inflates and burns very quickly so be very careful. Done, your Arabic bread is crying out for you to eat it on a pizza, a salad or with the accompaniment you want.
