Toyo Ito is one of the most influential architects of today globally. With his conceptual work, the Japanese born in 1941 has explored the relationship between the physical image of the cities with the digital world.
In 1971 Toyo Ito founded his own study from where it has built numerous projects that express urban life, mainly from Japan. Ito says that architecture must be like a tree: «an organism that grows and develops based on its surroundings and with it, generates new experiences that enrich the lives of users.»

The White U House
The architect designed this building as a house for his older sister after he lost his husband because of cancer. The house, built in Tokyo, in 1976 has a curved inner hall which is shaped by U. In it he installed the windows of the building. This form of design is a demonstration of spirituality in the architect's work. After three generations of his family lived in it, in 1997 The White U House was demolished thus marking a new chapter in family history.
